What is vinyl flooring?
Vinyl floors are composed of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and are made in layers. The bottom layer is the backing. It provides added strength. The thicker the backing is, the more durable the product is. The next layer is the printed design layer, which is covered by a protective wear layer to protect against impact damaging. The top layer is a sealed urethane layer to protect against surface damaging.

What are the advantages of vinyl flooring?
Vinyl flooring is good looking, affordable and versatile. It is appropriate to use vinyl anytime you want to cover more square footage at a more economical cost. It typically is available in large sheets. Therefore, a vinyl floor can be installed with few seams. Quality vinyl flooring is durable, is not affected by surface moisture (like hardwood flooring), is stain resistant, and can look good and last for decades. It is relatively easy to clean and maintain.

Where can vinyl flooring be installed?
Vinyl flooring is suitable for any indoor setting. It is used in receptions, basements and spaces that receive heavy foot traffic. You can install vinyl flooring over concrete, hardwood, or plywood. Installing vinyl flooring over existing vinyl is also an option, but we do not recommend doing so over one or more pre-existing layers. A smooth subfloor is actually necessary because any imperfections beneath would show on the surface.

What is the average lifetime of a vinyl floor?
The lifetime of vinyl flooring varies widely because differences in the quality of the product greatly impact its longevity. Vinyl flooring generally lasts from five to twenty years. How well you care and maintain your floor will also impact how long it lasts.

Will you move furniture or trim doors if needed on vinyl flooring?
Yes, we facilitate in moving furniture and trim doors that are too low and interfere with thickness of being laid new flooring.

Are some vinyl sheet floors less expensive "to install" than others?
The condition of your subfloor and the quality of vinyl sheet product you purchase will help to determine what installation options are available to you and the cost of that installation.
